Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry insists Fabio Capello is the right man to lead England forward
Italian backed to succeed with Three Lions...
By Matt Monaghan
Capello, 64, led the nation to a disappointing second round exit to Germany after being hotly tipped to lead the Three Lions to glory before the tournament. Since returning, the players and management have borne the brunt of repeat attacks, with some quarters calling for the Italian to lose his job.
However, Barry rubbished reports the squad had lost faith and insists Capello is the right man to lead England forward.
He said: "Everyone is right behind the manager.
"I firmly believe the players and manager can go on and do great things. He is still the man to take England forward."
Capello was widely expected to make sweeping changes to the international set up in the wake of the World Cup.
"I have not noticed anything different," Barry continued.
"He still wants us to play at a high tempo but the whole squad is pretty relaxed.
"Everything is pretty chilled there so there are not too many changes.
"We just want to get the results right. That is going to be what makes people happy."
One player earmarked to shine in the future is Barry's club-mate Adam Johnson. The ex-Aston Villa man praised the winger and said he could only get better with time.
"Adam could really make his mark," said Barry.
"He joined us in the middle of last season, came into the team full of confidence and hasn't stopped since.
"He has kept improving with every game. The more he plays at this level, the better he will become."
