thumbnail Hello,

David Beckham has targeted a spot as an England player for the forthcoming qualifiers for Euro 2012, despite the fact that he will be 37 by the time of that tournament, according to a report from The Sun.

The Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder is currently recovering from an Achilles tendon injury that limited his participation at World Cup 2010 to a coaching and mentoring role with the Three Lions squad.

But the disappointment of being involved with such a lacklustre campaign has not dimmed his enthusiasm for pulling on his country's shirt, according to the report.

Certainly, England seemed to miss his passing ability in South Africa as they struggled to retain possession.

With his recovery from injury going well, it is believed that Beckham has targeted September 3's qualifier against Bulgaria and the following clash with Switzerland four days later as the games in which he will make his international comeback.

Beckham has also been touted as a possible England manager from some quarters in recent days.
