Round 25 of the Primera Division was a memorable one for Real Madrid. Carlo Ancelotti's side beat Elche 3-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu and then saw title rivals Barcelona and Atletico Madrid both lose.
Barca went down 3-1 at Real Sociedad, while Atletico lost 3-0 at Osasuna to leave Los Blancos three points clear with 13 rounds of La Liga remaining.
Elsewhere, there were wins for Sevilla, Athletic Bilbao, Valencia and Villarreal. Here, Goal looks at the standout performers from the latest action in Spain's top flight.
In goal, Sergio Asenjo is a natural choice. The Villarreal keeper was a hero for his side as he saved a last-minute penalty from Sergio Garcia at Estadi Cornella-El Prat on Monday to ensure that his team left Barcelona with all three points.
At the back, Coke helped Sevilla to a clean sheet and scored the winner to give the Andalusians all three points in a 1-0 win at his former club, Rayo Vallecano, and, for Valencia, Ruben Vezo netted a last-minute winner in a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Granada. For Osasuna, Alejando Arribas was a rock as the Pamplona side thrashed Atleti 3-0, while Joseba Zaldua shone for Real Sociedad in their win over Barca.
Alvaro Cejudo and Emiliano Armenteros struck a goal apiece for Osasuna in the Navarrans' impressive win, while David Zurutuza and Antoine Griezmann helped Real Sociedad to a memorable success over Barca and are also included in this week's selection.
Further forward, Gareth Bale is in after his stunning strike in the 3-0 win over Elche, despite an average all-round performance. The Welshman is joined by Mexican Carlos Vela, who was decisive for Real Sociedad in their victory over the reigning champions.
