thumbnail Hello,

The Spain international, who scored in the 3-0 win, was delighted as Barcelona were able to rack up a victory which saw them make it 59 consecutive matchdays on top of La Liga

Gerard Pique felt Barcelona were excellent value for their 3-0 win over Malaga on Sunday night, claiming that they "dominated from the first minute".

The Blaugrana had to wait until just before half time to take the lead at Camp Nou, with their towering defender breaking the deadlock with his second goal in as many Liga games.

Pedro and Alexis Sanchez then both struck in the space of five second half minutes as Barca ultimately cruised to a victory that ensured they would finish top of the Primera Division for a 59th successive matchday.

"It was a game we dominated from the first minute," Pique told Canal Plus. "We scored one goal in the first half but it could have been so many more.

"Despite the bad times we've had, during these two years, we have always maintained top spot. This means that this is a compact, solid team that can still stay up there for a lot longer."

Lionel Messi failed to break his Liga duck for 2014 but Pique felt that the Argentine, who set up Pedro's goal, had still been one of the home side's better performers.

"Leo always brings with him a lot with goals, but he also provides other things, such as assists good team play when the team needs him in midfield," the centre-half stated.

Pique was also keen to pay tribute to Ibrahim Afellay, who made his first appearance of the season for Barca after a lengthy spell on the sidelines through injury.

"It's an unforgettable day for Afellay," the Spain international enthused. "The coach [Gerardo Martino] now has another option to choose from."
