The Argentine coach has admitted that his side are starting to feel tired, but has praised his squad for the way in which they have coped with their fatigue
Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone has hailed the efforts of his players in the wake of their 2-0 Copa del Rey win over Valencia on Tuesday.
Second-half goals from Diego Godin and Raul Garcia sent the Rojiblancos into the quarter-finals with a 3-1 aggregate scoreline, after last week's 1-1 draw in the first leg at Mestalla.
The win came just three days after Atletico drew 0-0 at home to Barcelona in a top-of-the-table Liga clash and Simeone feels that his team proved their critics - who felt tiredness would be an issue - wrong with their display.
"The players were amazing again. And that after a big game against Barcelona and when people were doubtful about their response," Simeone said at a press conference.
"The players, doctors and physios all play their role in this. You cannot play in this intensive rhythm without ambition.
"Tiredness is starting to appear, but we have our ways to deal with it. We have to rest, we have to eat good and basically we have to read the games properly.
"How we can run less and how we have to work as a team to run less. I think our defensive display against Valencia was a good example. We shared the work and did well."
