Benzema one of the world's best strikers, says Morata

The Real Madrid forward, who scored during his side's win at Levante on Saturday, feels that the France international is one of the game's best despite his poor form
Real Madrid attacker Alvaro Morata has labelled under-fire team-mate Karim Benzema as "one of the best strikers in the world".

The France international has been repeatedly heckled by the crowd at the Santiago Bernabeu this season, having scraped just two goals in eight Primera Division appearances.

There has even been talk of Benzema being replaced in Madrid starting line-up by Morata but the youngster argues that he still has a lot of improving to do before he can be compared with the former Olympique Lyonnais forward.

"I know I need to keep working and that I've got one of the best strikers in the world ahead of me," the 20-year-old told reporters on Monday.

Morata, though, proved his worth with a 90th-minute equaliser in Madrid's dramatic 3-2 victory over Levante on Saturday night but, while the youngster was delighted with his impact on the match, he is keeping his feet firmly planted on the ground.

"I need to take it step by step and keep working. I'm training well and, if I get the chance, I'll try to take advantage of it," he stated.

"I think a lot has changed, maturing over time, but I'm still the same. I don't think I've changed much."
