The 33-year-old was full of praise for the Spain goalkeeper following a terrific display in their 1-0 victory over Celtic in the Champions League on Tuesday
The 31-year-old produced an excellent performance in Tuesday's 1-0 away victory to Celtic in the Champions League and Xavi was quick to praise his team-mate after the game.
“Maybe Valdes is appreciated more now that he’s said he’s leaving," Xavi told El Larguero.
"He’s a top-class goalkeeper. He was exceptional once again and showed his value.”
The midfielder was also happy with the control his side maintained throughout the clash at Celtic Park and believes the game proves the club's style has changed very little under new coach Tata Martino.
“It was maybe our most complete performance," he continued.
"We had more control. The club’s philosophy remains the same and we showed that today; our philosophy is inviolable. What we’re doing with [Barça coach] Tata [Martino] is very, very similar to what we’ve been doing in recent years.”
Xavi's team-mate Neymar was also pleased with the win, adding that it was a team effort that earned them the three points.
“It’s a very important win. I wasn’t the team’s leader; we were all important," he said.
