The Brazil international never had any doubts over whether his compatriot would succeed at Barca and was delighted with their win over Real SociedadDani Alves says he is not surprised by Neymar's start to life at Barcelona following his €57 million (£50m) summer move from Santos.
The 21-year-old has produced some promising displays in the opening weeks of the 2013-14 campaign and got his first goal in La Liga in the 4-1 win over Real Sociedad on Tuesday evening.
"I knew of Neymar’s abilities and I knew that he’d fit in at Barca. I’m not surprised by his good start," Alves was quoted as saying on the club's official website.
Alves then went on to voice his satisfaction with Barca's performance against Sociedad as they made it six wins from as many league games.
He added: "It was a great match and we worked hard, especially in the first half. We created chances and we scored.
"The coach wants us to keep our style of play because it’s basically taken us to the top. What [Tata] Martino wants is to have alternatives in difficult matches."
