Ancelotti: Real Madrid must improve

The former Paris Saint-Germain boss urges his side to step up their game when they take on Getafe in La Liga on Sunday and commends Cristiano Ronaldo's professionalism
Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti warns that his side must improve if they are to be successful this season.

Los Blancos were held to a 2-2 draw by Villarreal in their last Primera Division fixture, while they struggled in the opening 45 minutes of their Champions League win over Galatasaray in midweek, and the Italian has told his men that they must step performances up a notch.

"The opening stages of the games against Villarreal and Galatasaray were not good enough," Ancelotti told the press on Saturday.

"We must improve against Getafe on Sunday. We will have to put in an intense performance right from the start."

Ancelotti then went on to commend Cristiano Ronaldo's professionalism in the wake of his hat-trick against Galatasaray, following on from his bumper contract renewal.

"Cristiano is a fantastic professional. He's always focused in training and eager to improve," he enthused.

"He prepares himself very well before the games and always looks after himself after the matches."
