The Malaga coach has lamented the Liga duopoly in the Spanish top flight, with Atletico the only ones capable of chasing them in his opinion

Malaga boss Bernd Schuster has ripped into La Liga, branding it a "two-and-a-half-team league".

The former Real Madrid coach, who recently took over the reigns at La Rosaleda following Manuel Pellegrini's move to Manchester City, hinted that Barcelona and the Blancos dominate, while Atletico Madrid provide some competition to the duopoly.

"We have a two-and-a-half-team league," Schuster was quoted as saying by SportYou.

"The championship is for [Barca and Real Madrid] both and then there's a fight between the fourth and 10th place, which was very nice last year. I think this year will be very similar."

Schuster, who lifted La Liga with Real Madrid five years ago, also revealed his disdain towards Monday matches as he gears up for his first season in Spain since stepping down from his Santiago Bernabeu position in December 2008.

"I hope this year we will not play too many Monday matches," the German added. "I do not even want to see them."

Malaga, who finished sixth in La Liga last season, will kick-off the new campaign with a trip to Valencia.
