The Blaugrana playmaker does not believe that Atletico Madrid will be distracted on Sunday and insists that he is happy being a squad player at Camp Nou for nowBarcelona midfielder Thiago is delighted the club are on the brink of lifting the Liga title that they lost to Real Madrid last season, but is refusing to breathe a sigh of relief just yet.
A win at Atletico Madrid on Sunday will secure top spot for the Catalunya club, though if Real Madrid fail to triumph in their match against Espanyol, then, Tito Vilanova's side will be Primera Division champions regardless of the final score at the Vicente Calderon.
Thiago insists the club do not take winning for granted and claims the past 12 months have been difficult at times.
"The league is a big prize, a great title, we want it badly and we are well aware how important it is," he told Barcelona's official website. "We’ve been fighting for this all season, last year we lost the title and we want it back.
"It’s a lovely title, sometimes you get so used to winning it’s as if you don’t value the title, but I can tell you that here in the squad we know how hard it has been to face up to and win so many games."
Thiago doubts the Copa del Rey final being on the horizon will distract Diego Simeone's men on Sunday and insists that the Blaugrana are concentrating on their own fixture and not hoping Madrid are defeated.
"Our game is the biggest for us - whatever Real Madrid do," the 22-year-old continued. "The Calderon is never an easy place to go to and win. Atletico Madrid are in next year’s Champions League and they are through to the cup final.
"There’s still plenty of time for them to focus on that final and I am sure they will give us a very tough game."
The Barca starlet also revealed that he is comfortable being a squad player at Camp Nou right now and said that he is pleased with how this season has gone, despite not being at full fitness throughout.
"I'm very satisfied [with my performances this season]," he added. "I had a couple of injuries at the start and taking that into account I think I’ve finished the season well.
"I try to get more games each season and, although those early injuries affected my whole season, it’s been a good year. I’m a squad player and I just want to get game time and help the team."
