The young attacker has played down comparisons with the Frenchman and went on to hail the importance of Lionel Messi to the Blaugrana first teamCristian Tello has admitted he still has a long way to go before he can be compared to former Barcelona attacker Thierry Henry.
The 21-year-old has drawn comparisons with the Arsenal icon due to his attacking style down the Blaugrana left wing, but a humble Tello has made it clear he is not near the Frenchman's level just yet.
"I’m still a long way from Henry’s football and goals," the young attacker told Barca TV.
Tello then went on to highlight the importance of Lionel Messi to Barcelona and stressed how keenly his absence was felt in the Champions League semi-final second leg against Bayern Munich.
"It is very important that Leo Messi plays," he said. He couldn’t play in the Champions League game against Bayern and was a major loss.
"The team played very well without him, but you can tell when he’s on. If the best player plays, it shows."
The Spanish winger has been in fine form this season, with seven goals and four assists in 19 La Liga appearances, and he admits he is pleased with his progress during the 2012-13 campaign.
"My season has been very good," he added."You always want to play every possible minute, but I’m happy with the time I have had."
