Barcelona spokesperson Toni Freixa has taken a minor dig at former first-team boss Pep Guardiola, claiming current head coach Tito Vilanova "wins all the comparisons, even the human aspect."
Guardiola guided the Blaugrana to an impressive 14 trophies during his four-year spell at the club's helm, yet Freixa is clearly more in awe of the qualities of his successor.
"Tito wins all the comparisons with Guardiola, even the human aspect," the Barca spokesman said in an interview with Radio Marca.
"When he was presented as our new coach, he said that he should not be compared with Pep as he would always lose those comparisons. I disagree, though, and believes he wins on each front."
Freixa then went on to discuss the future of Eric Abidal, who has an expiring contract with Barca, and stated that the Frenchman will not necessarily be offered a new deal.
"Barcelona will have to make a decision on his renewal solely based on technical parameters," Freixa added.
"He has been an example to follow, but the eventual decision about his future lies with the technical staff."
Abidal recently made his comeback after a 13-month spell on the sidelines following a liver transplant, and revealed it is the club's decision whether or not he would extend his current terms.
