Atletico are currently staring at a 14-point gap between them and Barca in the league, but are only trailing behind city rivals Real Madrid in second spot by one.And despite the gulf in points between the sides, the Argentinan is relaxed about the side's haul of points.
"The gulf between us and Barcelona is a reality, but there is nothing we can do about it. Reality is all that we have, but I want to promote what we have," he told reporters."There are 10 games, that is 30 points. The championship is long and you have to get up quickly because you do not have time to analyse these things.
"Every game is important, they are all three points, and that will lead us to our goal.”
On Sunday, Atletico face Valencia at the Vicente Calderon, a team that Simeone describes as a rival with aspirations to get into the top spots.
"I imagine a full stadium. Both teams show intentions. We, obviously, want to keep our place and they have to find a place among the best. It’ll be a fun game,” he added
