thumbnail Hello,

The mum and dad of the versatile midfielder have implored his club to lower their demands and sanction the Spain international's transfer to the Allianz Arena

The parents of Javi Martinez have urged Athletic Bilbao to let their son join Bayern Munich, according to Bild.

The Bundesliga giants have been constantly linked with a move for the Spain international over the summer, but the Basque side's president Josu Urrutia has remained firm in his belief that the 23-year-old will only move for €40 million.

Despite publicly announcing that they would be willing to meet the player's buy-out cluse, the Bavarians have been left frustrated by Bilbao's stern stance in negotiations.

However, the player's parents have now intervened and personally implored Bilbao to let their son complete his switch to the Allianz Arena.

President Urrutia, however, has remained steadfast in holding out for €40m, telling Basque TV station ETB: “We rely on our players from an early age, we want them to try and end their careers here.

“We do not do business with our players. It is a part of our history. In order for a player to leave Bilbao, he has to resolve his contractual arrangements.”

Bayern president Uli Hoeness has stayed firm on the other hand, saying: “A normal market value of Martinez is only €20-25 million.”
