Abidal resumes individual training as he targets Barcelona return

The Frenchman has made the next step on the road back to full fitness as he has started working out in the gym, and he also thanked the fans for their support
Barcelona defender Eric Abidal has announced that he has resumed individual training as he continues his recovery from a liver transplant.

The Frenchman underwent surgery back in April, and there were fears that the left-back's career could be over.

Nevertheless, Abidal is determined to return to the pitch, and has now started training in the gym away from the first team.

"Hello my friends, I hope you are well, I'm writing you to give you some news: I've started again to train indoors, for a little time now," a statement on the Frenchman's official Facebook page reads.

The 32-year-old received a warm welcome during Monday's official team-presentation ahead of the Joan Gamper Trophy match versus Sampdoria, and Abidal was delighted with the fans' affection.

"And I would like to say a big thank you to the Catalans for their great welcome at Camp Nou during the official presentation! I thank you for your support."
