thumbnail Hello,

The new Barca coach has taken time to praise the Brazil international and assured him of his future following comments about rumours regarding a summer departure

Barcelona coach Tito Vilanova has quickly moved to assure Dani Alves that he remains a key figure at the Blaugrana.

The Brazil international had admitted that he was upset with Barcelona's decision not to dismiss exit rumours this summer amid interest from Anzhi Makhachkala and Manchester City.

Nevertheless, Vilanova has explained that he was unaware of player's displeasure, and would have called him had he known how the defender felt.

"If I had known Dani Alves felt upset, I would have gotten in touch with him to assure him about his future at the club. Next time I will definitely do so," Vilanova stated at a press conference.

"There have never been any doubts about his future, not by me and not by the club. He is the best right-back in the world in my opinion."

Vilanova replaced Pep Guardiola as Barca coach following the latter's decision to leave at the end of the 2011-12 campaign.
