The French defender discusses his former Ajax team-mate and his own future amidst rumours of a move away from La Liga, with Turkey mentioned as a potential destinationSevilla centre-back Julien Escude has spoken of his respect for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, having played alongside the eccentric striker during his time at Ajax, while also discussing his own future.
Escude told RMC that even years ago at Ajax people knew that Ibrahimovic was destined for bigger things, as the Swede continues to be linked with a move to French side Paris Saint-Germain.
"I was 23 when we played together, Zlatan was still young but you could feel his full potential," the defender stated in Sunday's interview.
The Frenchman went on to mention how he has "kept up a good relationship with [Zlatan]. When we crossed paths while he was at Barcelona, it went well."
There have been rumours recently that Escude may be on his way out of Sevilla, with just a year left to run on his current contract. When asked about this, the defender said: "The door is open for a departure. I intended to go after my contract but the club's economic situation has changed priorities."
Escude also commented on the possibility of a move to Turkish giants Besiktas.
"Yes, I am in contact with them. We are in discussions. A return to France is not impossible but I favour a move abroad," he revealed.
Besiktas are not the only club linked with the defender, with Villarreal, Bologna, Marseille and Lille all also queuing up for his signature.
