On-loan Courtois warns Chelsea he 'wants to win' ahead of Uefa Super Cup meeting

The Belgian goalkeeper insists that if he gets the opportunity to line up against the London side in the showpiece event next month, he will be playing for the victory
Thibaut Courtois has made it clear that his parent club Chelsea will take on a team that is becoming increasingly dear to him, Atletico Madrid, in the Uefa Super Cup on August 31.

Courtois has spent the last 12 months on loan at Atletico, where he has become their undisputed first-choice goalkeeper. He recently renewed the loan deal, which means he is set to spend the next 12 months there as well.

If Chelsea give him permission, he will be trying to stop them scoring in the Super Cup on August 31.

The Belgian goalkeeper is keen to play in the showpiece match in Monaco, and has said he wants to bring the trophy back to Madrid.

21/10 Atletico Madrid are 21/10 with William Hill to beat Chelsea and win the Uefa Super Cup.
"It will be a special game, playing agaimst my [parent] club, but I am now at Atletico, and I want to win," he was quoted as saying by Marca.

"I have greater feelings for Atletico than Chelsea, whom I respect because they are my parent club."

When asked about the decision to extend his loan deal for another year, Courtois was full of enthusiasm.

"For me it was very easy because I knew I wanted to stay. Personally I am very happy," he continued.

"I've seen in the social networks that the Atletico fans wanted me to stay. That's very nice."
