The former Arsenal captain acknowledged that he was impressed by the performance of a Merah Putih selection during an exhibition match at Gelora Bung Karno StadiumBarcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas believes that Indonesia have a promising football team that he hopes he can play against one day in the World Cup.
The 25-year-old was invited by a local biscuit company as a brand ambassador to play a match with the Fabregas and Friends team against an Indonesia Selection, Team Garuda, at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on Thursday.
"I have a very positive impression, they are brave and showed a good level of play," he told reporters after the game, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
"I hope we can compete together in the World Cup someday, it would be amazing because Indonesia have great potential," Fabregas added.
The recently-crowned Euro 2012 champions also expressed his excitement to return to Jakarta for the second time despite only in a short two-day trip.
"I do not have much time to get around in Jakarta, but from what I've seen, I like how the people of Indonesia are proud of their football."
