Real Madrid defender Marcelo could be set to clash with manager Jose Mourinho over his inclusion in Brazil's Olympics squad, according to AS.

Selecao coach Mano Menezes has placed the left-back on his shortlist ahead of the tournament, where he would take up one of the squad's three over-23 slots.

However, the 24-year-old's involvement in London 2012 would see him miss all of Real Madrid's pre-season schedule, including a tour of the United States.

Despite representing Brazil at the last Olympics in 2008, Marcelo has made no secret of his desire to win gold at the event, after only securing a bronze medal in Beijing.

Menezes has now revealed he will contact Mourinho, via telephone, to discuss his Olympic plans and ask the Real Madrid manager's permission to include the Brazil international.

Should Brazil reach the competition's final, Marcelo would only return a week prior to the new Liga season's kick-off on August 18.
