The former international feels that his compatriot's style of play would suit the Catalans, and has also taken the time to praise the talents of Lionel Messi and Thiago SilvaBarcelona defender Edmilson has voiced his opinion that Santos star Neymar would fit in well at the Catalans, and added that the Brazil international will have to move to Europe at some point if he wants to be considered as one of the best players in the game.
The 20-year-old has repeatedly said that he intends to stay at Santos until after the 2014 World Cup, but Edmilson feels that a move to Barcelona would benefit his career.
"Neymar would fit in at Barcelona, no doubt," Edmilson stated to Com Radio.
"He has things of both Ronaldinho and of [Lionel] Messi. To make history, he needs to move to Europe, though."
The 35-year-old Edmilson then went on to praise both Messi and AC Milan defender Thiago Silva, who has also been linked with a move to Barca.
"Messi is an intelligent kid. He learned from Ronaldinho, Deco and [Samuel] Eto'o, and patiently waited for his moment.
"For me, Thiago Silva is the best centre back in the world. If possible, I'd recommend him to join Barcelona."
Thiago Silva is unlikely to leave Milan any time soon, though, with Rossoneri CEO Adriano Galliani insisting that he is not for sale at any price.
