Di Stefano hails Real Madrid's 'extraordinary' campaign

The Argentine legend believes that it was a successful season and one that the fans should be proud of, after the club won the league and their reserves were promoted
Real Madrid honorary president Alfredo di Stefano has indicated that he is thrilled with Los Blancos' accomplishments this season.

The Spanish capital club failed to secure their 10th Champions League crown, but have reason to rejoice after dethroning Barcelona to win their first La Liga title since 2008, while their reserve team won promotion from the third tier.

"The team played very well and the campaign was extraordinary," Di Stefano told reporters.

"We won La Liga, and Real Madrid Castilla were promoted to the second division.

"This season was a privilege for the club and a very good campaign for the fans."

Madrid beat Mallorca 4-1 on the final weekend of the season to set a new La Liga record by reaching 100 points.
