Benzema: I hope that Higuain stays at Real Madrid

The French striker attested to the quality of his attacking partner, while stating that he is not sure whether Barcelona's cycle of dominance has come to an end
Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema says that he does not want to see teammate Gonzalo Higuain leave the club in the summer.

The Argentine has been strongly linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu after featuring infrequently for Los Blancos in 2011-12, despite scoring 26 goals in all competitions during the course of the season.

"He is still a player of Madrid, he is a good player and I hope that he will stay with us," Benzema told reporters.

The France international, who recently claimed that Jose Mourinho is the best coach in the world, then refused to say whether Madrid's La Liga triumph has signalled the end of an era for Barcelona.

"Barca are always a great side, but we are not thinking about them, we focus on ourselves," he added.

"I do not know if they are at an end of a cycle, but we will have to keep improving."
