TEAM NEWS: Valdes returns in goal as Afellay starts for Barcelona against Betis

The first-choice goalkeeper returns between the sticks with Jose Manuel Pinto sidelined while the Dutch winger makes a rare start following an injury-plagued season

In his last Liga game in charge of Barcelona, Pep Guardiola has made several changes for the visit to Real Betis on Saturday evening.

With Carles Puyol ruled out for six weeks after undergoing knee surgery, Gerard Pique returns to central defence while Dani Alves replaces Martin Montoya.

Guardiola announced a fortnight ago that Jose Manuel Pinto would play the club's final Liga matches of the season ahead of the Copa del Rey final against Athletic Bilbao, but the Spaniard has picked up a knock, meaning Victor Valdes comes in between the sticks.

Xavi returns in the centre of the pitch with Thiago Alcantara making way while Andres Iniesta is replaced by Ibrahim Afellay. who takes to the field to start his first game of the campaign following long-term injury. He will feature in attack alongside Pedro and Lionel Messi.
