The ex-CheIsea boss insists Los Blancos are favourites for the Primera Division this season, and that only an unbelievable run of form by Barcelona can prevent the inevitable
The Santiago Bernabeu outfit are top of La Liga by ten points currently, with 13 games remaining, having won the bulk of their matches this term.
With defending champions Barca showing inconsistency at times over the last nine months, Mourinho feels that his men are in a great position to win the league.
"I'd like to think we'll win the league," the former Inter and Chelsea manager stated in a press conference ahead of Saturday's trip to face Real Betis.
"If we don't it will be because Barcelona had a spectacular run in the last stretch and that we weren't able to keep up the good work and to have the same ambition.
"The championship is still open and there are many points at stake, but we believe we can stay this strong. I'm not saying we will win all of our games because we're sure to draw and lose some, but we want to reach the end of the campaign in a strong position," he stated.
Los Blancos have the chance to open up a 13-point lead on Saturday, before Barcelona play Racing Santander on Sunday.
