The Portugal defender is facing a spell on the sidelines after limping off in his country's clash with Poland, and could miss as many as four La Liga games for Los BlancosReal Madrid have been rocked by the news that Fabio Coentrao is expected to spend the next three weeks on the sidelines with a groin problem.
The Portugal defender lasted just 21 minutes of his country's friendly against Poland and while national team doctor Henrique Jones refused to put a timescale on the player's recovery, it has been claimed by Record that Coentrao will not be in a position to return to action until the tail end of the month.
"In principle, I think the injury may involve a period of inactivity," Jones mused after the game in Warsaw. "Real Madrid has already been informed of what's happening."
Coentrao's injury is a blow for Los Blancos, who will play four times in La Liga over the course of the next three weeks.
Jose Mourinho's men currently top the table by ten points from Barcelona and their next outing comes against Espanyol at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday evening.
