The Basque side are determined to play the Copa decider at the Bernabeu and declared that suggestions about the RFEF looking for another venue are unfounded
Both Bilbao and Barcelona have expressed an interest for the match to be held at Real Madrid's stadium due to its capacity and central location.
However, the Blancos are reportedly against the idea and Jorge Carretero, a spokesperson for the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), stated on Monday that the Bernabeu was not an option.
"The venue suggested by our club for the final continues to be the Santiago Bernabeu, as it was expressed in the first and only meeting held to this date, on Monday, February 13, between the RFEF, Barcelona and Athletic," a club statement explained.
"Athletic are still waiting to know the date and time of the second meeting.
"Therefore, Athletic would like to express that it has no knowledge that its proposal has been rejected.
"As such, Athletic consider that speculation about the venue of the Copa final is not in the interests of the Federation, the clubs or their fans."
