Barcelona striker David Villa optimistic about featuring at Euro 2012
The Spain international sustained a fractured leg during the Club World Cup in December but is hopeful of returning to match action before this summer's Euros

The Spain international sustained the injury during the Club World Cup in December 2011 and has since been working on his recovery.
It was initially thought that Villa's season could be over, but the forward is hopeful of making his comeback toward the end of the campaign with an eye on making Spain's Euro 2012 squad.
"I went to the clinic last Friday to have two screws withdrawn from my leg. Everything went perfectly and I went home without any noteworthy problems. This is another important step in my recovery," Villa was quoted as saying by EFE.
"When I got injured, I said that it was my goal to make Euro 2012 and help Barcelona at the end of the season. And I am getting more optimistic about it every day as it's going very well."
The 30-year-old attacker has made 15 La Liga appearances so far this term, netting five goals in the process.
Starting in November and continuing through to the middle of February, Goal.com is publishing exclusive extracts from Graham Hunter's highly-anticipated new book, 'Barca: The Making of the Greatest Team in the World'. The last extract looked at how Barca suffered rare disappointment at the hands of Real Madrid in a gripping finale to last season's Copa del Rey. Don't miss it!
