Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola has received some promising news from the treatment table in the build-up to the upcoming La Liga match against Real Sociedad, as versatile attacker Alexis Sanchez has been deemed match fit, Sport reports.

The Chile international picked up a muscular problem in the 1-1 Copa del Rey draw against Valencia in midweek, and there were doubts about the 23-year-old's availability for Saturday's game.

Nevertheless, Blaugrana medical staff have now allegedly given the South American the green light to feature in the match against Phillipe Montanier's men.

The former Udinese star has been in superb form for the Catalans since his summer move to Spain, netting seven times in 12 La Liga appearances.

Starting in November and continuing through to the middle of February, Goal.com is publishing exclusive extracts from Graham Hunter's highly-anticipated new book, 'Barca: The Making of the Greatest Team in the World'. Friday's extract looked at how Barca suffered rare disappointment at the hands of Real Madrid in a gripping finale to last season's Copa del Rey. Don't miss it!
