New Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has revealed that Jose Antonio Reyes could yet have a future at the club.

Reyes was set to leave the Vicente Calderon after falling out of favour with former coach Gregorio Manzano, with Galatasaray and Sevilla both said to have been close to agreeing a deal for the former Spain international.

However, the arrival of Simeone has changed the landscape and the Argentine confirmed that he has already spoken with the player.

"We are talking, so we'll see,” the new boss is quoted as saying by Marca. “Atletico players are very important and everyone deserves the utmost attention.

“I am interested [in him] and I like to have players who want to be here. He is a great player like Adrian, Arda [Turan] and Diego.”

Meanwhile, Simeone denied that he does not see eye-to-eye with former Atletico team-mate and current sporting director Jose Luis Caminero, though he did concede they had never been close.

"With Jose Luis, we never had problems,” the 41-year-old insisted, "and something that unites us here, which is key, is the will to win.”

Simeone played 98 times for the Rojiblancos during a three-year spell at the club between 1994 and 1997, scoring 21 times in the process.
