Real Madrid's Xabi Alonso aims for big achievements in 2012
The 30-year-old is looking forward to the challenge of competing for La Liga, the Champions League and Euro 2012 over the course of the next 12 months for club and country

Going into the winter break, Jose Mourinho's side sit three points clear of arch-rivals Barcelona at the top of the La Liga table and will compete in the last 16 of the Champions League, while his national side have the chance to defend their European Championship crown in Ukraine and Poland in the summer.
Alonso says that he is looking forward to the challenge and to seeing whether his team's good start to the campaign will end in glory.
"This year, we are very excited because there nothing like achieving something big," the 30-year-old told GQ.
"There all the ingredients and now we have to see if the recipe works and the end product is good."
Real Madrid restart their league campaign with a home clash against Granada on January 7.
