Pep Guardiola will be without his right-hand man at San Siro as the 42-year-old recovers from the operationBarcelona assistant coach Tito Vilanova is to undergo surgery on Tuesday morning to remove a tumour.
The 42-year-old will have the procedure at Hospital Vall d'Hebron to remove a tumour found on his parotid gland, the largest of of the salivary glands.
Blaugrana coach Pep Guardiola will now be without his assistant for Tuesday evening's Champions League group clash with Milan as well as future matches until he has made a full recovery. The club has declined to provide any further information about the situation or on whether an interim assistant will be named, but announced that more details will only be released once the operation is completed.
Vilanova came through the Barcelona ranks with Guardiola and took up his current role in 2008, having also worked with the 40-year-old for Barcelona's B team.
