The Valencia-based side's head coach was very pleased with his charges' surprise win, but added that the season still has a long way to goLevante coach Juan Martinez has said that his side had no other option but to resort to using counter-attacks in their 1-0 home win over Real Madrid on Sunday, because their opponents have so many class players.
A single Arouna Kone strike helped Levante to the full three points after a heated encounter at Estadio Ciudad de Valencia in which Real Madrid were beaten for the first time this La Liga campaign.
"Real Madrid are a team of winners so we knew we would have to try to take full advantage of our counter-attacks," Martinez said at the post-match press conference. "It was a difficult game and we tried to make it hard for them.
"It's nice to be congratulated, but I would like to be receiving plaudits next May. We've won three points but there is a long way to go yet in the league. We are going to enjoy this moment but without forgetting we have a game on Wednesday."
Levante meet newly promoted Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday in their fourth league match of the 2011-12 campaign.
