thumbnail Hello,

The former Getafe coach admires the Catalan club's style and says they have players "who know perfectly well what to do with the ball", and reveals respect for Jose Mourinho

Former Real Madrid midfielder Michel stated that Spanish champions Barcelona are a cut above with their quick passing style under head coach Pep Guardiola.

Michel, who was dismissed as Getafe coach earlier this month, praised the Champions League winners by saying that they not only play good football, but also achieve good results.

"Pep Guardiola's Barcelona have revolutionised football. They have never made a step back and have some amazing footballers who know perfectly what to do with the ball," Michel was quoted as saying by Terra.

"This style is impossible to use without some key characteristics from the players: they all need to have the personality and desire to improve.

"Barca's football is almost an illusion. They manage to combine playing good football with recording good results. The superb results of Spain and Barcelona seem to have simplified things."

The 48-year-old, who made over 400 official appearances for Real Madrid, also discussed Jose Mourinho's reign at the Bernabeu.

He continued: "Mourinho has very clear ideas of how he wants something to be done and he knows how to execute his plans. The most important thing is that club and coach are heading in the same direction."
