Madrid defeated Barcelona 1-0 after extra-time in the final of the Copa del Rey in Valencia on Wednesday evening to win their first trophy under Mourinho, who joined the Spanish giants in the summer after leading Inter to a historic treble in 2009-10.
Ramos, who has been at Madrid since 2005, is hugely impressed with the Portuguese’s work and told reporters after the win at the Mestalla: “Mourinho is the captain of our ship and we are with him to the death.
“What he is trying to instill in us is working wonderfully.”
The Spain international defender added: “We must thank our fans for their support. We are also glad that we have already won a trophy without the season having ended yet.”
Madrid’s chances of winning the La Liga title this season are slim, with Real currently eight points behind leaders Barcelona, in second place.
However, the nine-time European Cup winners are still in with a chance of the Champions League. Mourinho’s team take on Barcelona in the semi-finals of the competition with the first-leg to be played at the Bernabeu next week.
