Real Madrid captain Iker Casillas lauded the influence of manager Jose Mourinho after his side beat La Liga rivals Barcelona to clinch their first Copa del Rey trophy since 1993.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored an extra-time header to defeat Pep Guardiola's side 1-0, and the Spanish 'keeper was quick to praise the impact that the Portuguese coach has made at the Bernabeu.
“Our mentality has been changed. Mou [Jose Mourinho] is a phenomenon," Casillas told reporters after the match."Today, we have suffered badly, but we have won a trophy that's coveted by all Madrid fans.
"We thank them for their support and we can repay them now that we have finally won a trophy. I am very happy."
And the shot-stopper did not waste any time before turning his attentions to their Champions League semi-final ties against Barcelona, what will be the third and fourth clashes in 18 days.
“Now we have a Champions League semi-final to look forward to,” Casillas added.
"We know that the league is complicated but we must always fight for everything.
Real Madrid will return to the Mestalla on Saturday to take on Valencia in La Liga before hosting Barcelona in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final at the Santiago Bernabeu next Wednesday.
