The defender, who returned in Saturday's draw with Jose Mourinho's side after a spell on the sidelines, was withdrawn in tehe second half after seemingly picking up a muscle complaint in the Bernabeu.
But Marca report that the World Cup winner trained alone of Monday as he looks to prove his fitness for the second of four Clasico's in the space of eighteen days.
It remains to be seen whether Puyol will be fully fit in time for Wednesday evening's clash at the Mestalla but his inclusion in the squad alone would be a massive boost for the Catalan outfit.
