Former Netherlands star not impressed with Portuguese tactician, who he claims played with seven defenders and only three attackers in 1-1 draw at the Santiago BernabeuBarcelona legend Johan Cruyff has looked back at Saturday's 1-1 draw with Real Madrid and was not impressed with the tactics employed by Jose Mourinho, branding the Portuguese a "negative coach".
"It's a huge compliment for Barcelona when Real Madrid start the match at Santiago Bernabeu with seven defenders," Cruyff told De Telegraaf.
"This game confirmed that Jose Mourinho is a negative coach. He only cares about the result and doesn't care much for good football.
"Obviously, he had to come up with something ahead of four big games against Barcelona. A big loss would have been a huge blow ahead of the Copa del Rey final and Champions League tie. Nevertheless, his decision to play seven defenders and three attackers was kind of extreme."
Cruyff then went on to underline the different football philosophies both clubs have when it comes to giving youngsters a chance.
The Dutchman continued: "It was also remarkable to see that Barcelona played with eight players who came through the ranks of the club's youth academy, while Madrid fielded only one youth academy product. The different football philosophies of both clubs were very clear to see."
Barcelona and Real Madrid again lock horns in the final of the Copa del Rey at the Mestalla this Wednesday.
