Defender admits he still has some problems with his hamstring but insists he will be at the Mestalla for the final, although he is unsure if he will be fit to play

Barcelona defender Carles Puyol claims the 1-1 draw against Real Madrid on Saturday will not affect his side's plans for the Copa del Rey final between the two rivals on Wednesday.

Last night's game saw the Catalan outfit maintain their eight point lead at the top of the table. Puyol, who played but came off just before the hour mark, feels it will all start from zero at the Mestalla when they challenge Real Madrid for Copa bragging rights.

"I do not think this game will influence anything. A final is always different. We have two excellent teams and I am sure it will be great," he told the press.

"We are optimistic and it will be an intense final with two great teams fighting for the cup."

On the draw at the Bernabeu, Puyol thought Barcelona deserved to win, saying: "The feelings are that we played a good game, we could have won, but we didn't."

Puyol limped off at the hour mark with a hamstring injury, but feels he may feature in Valencia for the second of four Clasicos.

"I am very happy to be back with the team. I had spoken to the coach, the last week there had been discomfort but told him that I was able to play," he added.

"It has been three months [out] and they were very hard. However, it [the Clasico] was an ideal occasion to come back.

"However, I have some discomfort in my hamstring but we will have to wait and see how it goes. I hope to be at the Mestalla, but I am not sure if I will play."

Barcelona are eight points ahead of Real Madrid with six games remaining in La Liga.
