thumbnail Hello,

Following Saturday's Clasico, New York Red Bulls striker Thierry Henry dared his former club's arch-rivals to try and actually win a game against the Blaugrana

Perhaps confident after finally ending his 684-minute goal drought with an emphatic header in the New York Red Bulls' 3-0 victory over San Jose, forward Thierry Henry discussed his feelings about Saturday's El Clasico, daring his former rivals Real Madrid to try to actually win a game against Barcelona.

Henry played for Barca for three years before making his way to New York in 2010.

“We watched the game before this game today. This one wasn’t obviously the big one, no disrespect to Madrid," Henry said. "I think the game on Wednesday, the final of the Cup [Copa del Rey], is going to be a massive one. Especially because you need to have a winner, I think Real Madrid is going to have to try to win.”

The 33-year-old former France international added: “I don’t know, I saw the game today and they were just waiting to see what was going to happen."

Henry admitted that, having won six trophies with Barcelona, he is naturally biased towards his former club.

“Obviously, you don’t have to ask me who I think is going to win,” he said.  “I think it’s going to be a special one [on Wednesday] because it’s a must win game. Hopefully, Barca will win.”

The Red Bulls captain believes that the Champions League semi-final between the two Spanish clubs will be the pinnacle of the four derby matches during a three-week span.

“I think the Champions League one is going to be the big one,” said Henry.

Real Madrid have not won against Barcelona since Pep Guardiola took over at Camp Nou as coach, and some of the Spanish media are questioning whether or not Los Merengues have the confidence to beat their arch-rivals. Henry was indifferent to Madrid's psychological state when asked whether or not Barca have the mental edge over the capital-based club.

“You know I don’t mind,” he said. “That’s not my problem [if they don’t have confidence].  As long as Barca wins, I really don’t mind."
