Starlet says he is ready to give his all for Spanish side when the chance arrives, amidst speculation that he could be set to leave Jose Mourinho's outfit
Speaking to AS, the 20-year-old creative midfielder said it was too early to label this season a waste and that he was determined to make an impression on Jose Mourinho when called upon.
"It's been a tough year, and it looks like a lost season [but I] still hope to earn the right to enjoy more minutes on the pitch," Canales said.
"[My future] is still complicated, but I'm learning a lot and I'm doing more as a player. I think with time, I'll see how positive this year was.
"The important thing is to give everything in every game and try to have more minutes."
Last week the Santander native, who has featured 12 times for Real Madrid this season spread across all competitions, revealed he had been approached by Premier League side Liverpool, but said the move did not interest him as he feels he is at the best club in the world.
Canales' stock has fallen since May 2010, according to the Castrol Rankings; dropping from 826th place to 1469th.
