Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo suggests £18m would not be enough to land Manchester United target David de Gea

Club chief denies receiving any bids for young goalkeeper

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has hinted to potential suitors that goalkeeper David de Gea would cost significantly more than the £18 million that has been reported in recent times.

Manchester United are among the clubs that have been linked with the Spain Under-21 international and although reports suggested an £18m bid had been lodged, Cerezo has denied hearing anything about a potential offer.

"No-one has asked me about him [De Gea] this morning," he said, as quoted by the Press Association.

"Ask Manchester [United] about it, but £18 million doesn't seem much to me."

The highly-rated goalkeeper forced his way into the first-team during the first half of the 2009-10 season after Sergio Asenjo was ruled out through injury.

The Atletico youth product recently signed a new contract at the club although could be tempted to move on in the summer if a big European side comes in for him.
