Barcelona captain Carles Puyol has confessed he remains wary of the presence of Real Madrid in the Primera Division title race, despite their four-point lead at the top.
The capital club's inability to defeat Almeria at the weekend, being held to a 1-1 draw, meant that the champions extended their lead thanks to a 4-1 victory over Malaga.
In an interview with Betfair, the club captain stressed that the team could scarcely have enjoyed a more productive season so far, but that Madrid remain a clear and present danger.
He said: “We have won every away match, and we have many points, but Madrid are still near to us. It is always a joy to beat Real Madrid [and in El Clasico] I think we produced a very complete game.
“However Real Madrid have a very good coach in Jose Mourinho, he is a good person who has won many titles, and his numbers speak for themselves.
"We cannot say that we will be champions, and we will need to keep fighting, as both Madrid and Villarreal are good teams and they will not be easy.”
