Real Madrid duo Iker Casillas & Xabi Alonso see room for improvement after Mallorca draw
Both feel Madrid did enough to win...
By Paul Madden
"There are things to improve but I like this team. We tried to score at all times, we had clear chances," Casillas explained afterwards as quoted by AS.
"We've been good defensively and well organised. Mallorca has sat back and played on the counter. We have done well and we will gradually improve. The ball did not want to go in."
Team-mate Alonso said his side had no excuses for not winning and promised the side will improve.
"We have to take time to shape as a team but that's no excuse. It is a pity because we should have won," he said.
"The first half we had control of the ball but it was even and in the second domain and we had more good chances but could have come but we must continue. We must improve for the next game because there are things that improve upon."
Both players shied away from questions about Barcelona, stating they need only worry about themselves.
"We should not become obsessed with Barcelona. We have to worry about us, we have the capacity to change and improve," Alonso noted while Casillas added:
"Barca are playing in their way and we ours and we just need to think of the next game."
