Newcastle United target Mahamadou Diarra wants to stay and fight for place at Jose Mourinho's Real Madrid
Agent says Mali midfielder wants to see out contract with Spanish giants

Newcastle United target Mahamadou Diarra wants to stay at Real Madrid and fight for his place under new manager Jose Mourinho, according to the player’s representative.
Goal.com UK understands that the Mali international has been offered to clubs in France and England, including Newcastle and Tottenham Hotspur.
But Diarra’s agent Frederic Guerra said today that the player has been told he is part of Mourinho’s plans for next season.
“I spoke with Real Madrid and was told that Jose Mourinho wants Diarra,” Guerra told Goal.com UK. “I know Newcastle want Diarra but we don’t want to leave.
“The situation for Mahamadou Diarra is this. He has one more year left on his contract and he is at the biggest club in the world. He is very happy at Real Madrid. Why would he want to go?”
Diarra, who joined Real from Lyon for £22 million in 2006, has slipped down the Bernabeu pecking order after being a key component of the team that won consecutive league titles in 2007 and 2008.
A knee injury, for which he underwent surgery, kept him out for most of the 2008-09 campaign, and his midfield anchorman role was held by his namesake, Lassana Diarra, for most of last season.
Guerra added: “He will play next season. After that, we are free. Diarra always wants to stay at Real Madrid.
“He has a new coach. He wants to play and fight for his place. He wants to get training and is looking forward to the new season.”
