Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola not interested in signing Manchester City forward Robinho - report
However, according to a report in Sport, the Blaugrana have made the decision not to make a move for Robinho this summer, as head coach Pep Guardiola has made it clear that he doesn't need the former Real Madrid star.
Guardiola is supposedly a keen admirer of the footballing qualities of Robinho, but he isn't too happy with the forward's behaviour off the pitch. The Barcelona gaffer is afraid that Robinho's arrival would lead to unrest in the dressing room and has therefore ruled out a move for the 26-year-old.
It remains to be seen though whether Robinho will indeed return to Manchester City this summer. Manager Roberto Mancini reportedly doesn't need the attacker either and the Citizens are expected to cash in on the attacker if a good offer comes in.
Meanwhile, Guardiola will sign a new deal with the reigning Spanish champions in the upcoming days, according to El Mundo Deportivo.
Negotiations have been ongoing over a new deal after his term expired on June 30. New club president Sandro Rosell confirmed his intention to keep Guardiola for next season shortly after taking over at the Catalans, but negotiations haven't gone as smoothly as expected.
The report claims that both parties are now on the verge of reaching an agreement though and Guardiola will put pen to paper on Thursday by the latest. He will reportedly sign a three-year deal with the Catalans.
Guardiola took the reigns at Camp Nou in 2008 and won a famous treble in his first season in charge. He guided the Blaugrana to a second consecutive Primera Division title in the 2009-10 campaign.
