Real Madrid to battle Manchester United & Chelsea for Germany World Cup 2010 star Sami Khedira - report

Real Madrid are set to launch a bid to for VfB Stuttgart midfielder Sami Khedira, according to a report from Spanish daily AS.

The Germany star had emerged as a target for Chelsea in recent days, with the Londoners reportedly lining up a £12 million bid for the player, who has impressed at the World Cup in South Africa.

Khedira has also been linked with Manchester United, but new Real boss Jose Mourhino sees him as a perfect complement for Xabi Alonso at the Bernabeu.

The Madrid hierarchy are therefore believed to be plotting a bid in the region of £8.3m to £10.8m (€10m - €13m).

The 23-year-old's contract is set to expire next summer, and Stuttgart may well decide to cash in on him this year.
