Clarence Seedorf is said be want to offer the former Rossoneri defender a role within his backroom team - but his current employers do not want to lose the 41-year-old
It has been reported that new Rossoneri coach Clarence Seedorf wants to make the 41-year-old former defender a part of his backroom team at San Siro.
However, De Boer says that Ajax would be strongly opposed to losing one of his most trusted assistants - particularly at such an inconvenient stage of the season.
"I've heard the rumours that Milan is interested in Jaap Stam," the 43-year-old told reporters. "But we don't want him to leave because we invested a lot in guys like him.
"But if Milan really wants him and Jaap wants to go, there is always a possibility he could. But we'd rather not lose him during the season. He also has a contract until 2016 at the club."
Meanwhile, De Boer, a former team-mate of Seedorf's with both Ajax and Netherlands, has backed the 37-year-old's bold decision to kick off his coaching career at one of the most high-profile clubs in the world.
"If Clarence thinks he's ready for it, he should do it," the Champions League winner stated.
"I know that he doesn't do anything without thinking first, so I guess he can take it on. He's a kind of guy who knows how he wants to play."
