thumbnail Hello,

The veteran midfielder freely admits that the Nerazzurri are starting from scratch again and that it is therefore imperative that they hit the ground running this season

Esteban Cambiasso has underlined the importance of getting off to a winning start in Serie A against Genoa at the weekend, as Inter aim to rebuild after a disappointing 2012-13 campaign.

The Giuseppe Meazza side had to settle for ninth spot in the league table last season and Cambiasso has admitting they will have to start from scratch again under new head coach Walter Mazzarri.

"Besides the dangers our opponents might pose this season, what we need to try and do is build our own identity, that's what really counts," Cambiasso told Mediaset.

"This is an Inter which is starting from scratch. Over the past few seasons we have been basing everything on a solid structure, a familiar team with the occasional addition.

"We are starting from scratch and for this reason it is crucial that we do well right from day one."

The Argentine also briefly discussed a potential return of Samuel Eto'o and had nothing but praise for the attacker.

"Samuel is a great footballer, we know him and we know what he's capable of," Cambiasso enthused. "He would be an extra striker."

Eto'o previously wore the Inter jersey from 2009 until 2011, before leaving the club for Anzhi Makhachkala.
